Mike Ciserella is a founding partner and principal of Cantera Development Group, LLC. Mike has over 30 years of professional environmental consulting and real estate development, construction and management experience. Mike is involved in virtually every aspect of the company including property selection and acquisition, project finance and insurance, remediation evaluation and oversight, predevelopment planning, site development/construction and asset management.

After graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mike worked for Shell Oil Company in New Orleans as a petroleum engineer. With the advent of the Underground Storage Tank Regulations and Responsible Property Transfer Act, Mike and his partner started Pioneer Engineering & Environmental Services, LLC in 1989. Their objective was straightforward: to provide responsive, efficient and practical environmental solutions for the real estate finance and transactional industry. Today, Pioneer is #1 in the State of Illinois in obtaining No Further Remediation (NFR) letters and is considered a premier provider of environmental and geotechnical engineering and consulting services.

He has pursued extensive graduate level coursework in civil and environmental engineering and continuing education in real estate law, zoning, finance and development; LEED building design; geothermal heat exchange design and construction; and, brownfields redevelopment. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer in the States of Colorado, Illinois and Indiana. He has been and is currently a member of various industry and real estate trade organizations. In his spare time, Mike enjoys spending time with his children and German Shepherd dog, Blue. Mike is an avid skier, cyclist and water sports enthusiast.
